PFAS Filtration in New Jersey

PFAS Water Filtration Systems

Reduce PFOS and PFOA in Water

Stover’s sells and installs water filtration systems to reduce PFAS contaminants in New Jersey. We offer resin based ion exchange filtration, and granulated activated carbon systems to treat the presence of PFOS and PFOA chemicals in private water supplies.

Ion Exchange Water Treatment Systems

PFAS ion exchange resin treatment systems reduce PFOS and PFOA in water by attracting contaminated materials as they pass through the filtration system. These systems utilize porous ion exchange resins which act similar to magnets that absorb certain contaminants in water.

Activated Carbon Treatment Systems

Granulated activated carbon water filters absorb several different contaminants from water, including PFOS and PFOA. These systems are known to not only reduce the presence of harmful chemicals, but also improve the taste of water.

About PFAS in New Jersey

PFAS (per and polyfluoroalkyl substances) refers to a class of synthetic chemicals found in many common items and substances. The most common PFSA’s are Perfluorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS) and Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA). These man-made chemicals have been in use since the 1940’s and have proven resilient to the biological processes that typically breakdown other chemicals. As a result, PFAS persist in the environment for many years after a contamination event, and can permeate into both public and private water supplies.

PFAS have been linked to a number of negative health effects in both humans and animals. In response to these health effects and the proliferation of PFAS in the State, The New Jersey Department of Environmental protection has established a Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for PFOA and PFOS at 14ppt and 13ppt respectively (as of June 2020).
